St John Anglican Church
A Community of Faith in Odorkor
Our History
Before the founding of St John Anglican Church at Odorkor, there existed at Kwashieman the St Luke Anglican Church under the pastoral care and supervision of St Mary the Virgin Anglican Church Accra.
In the absence of a Parish Priest at St Luke, a dedicated Catechist named Robert Lankwei Odartey, affectionately called Teacher Odartey, was assigned to lead the congregation in Mass and other church activities. Living at Abossey Okai, he faithfully commuted to Kwashieman every Sunday.
Teacher Odartey's commitment was extraordinary. He would arrive early each morning to visit members in their homes, personally encouraging attendance at Mass. Through these visits, he discovered a considerable number of Anglicans who had moved from central Accra to the expanding Odorkor-Kwashieman area but still traveled back to their original parishes each Sunday.

Hymn of the Week
Through All the Changing Scenes of Life
(Psalm 34, Tate & Brady)
Through all the changing scenes of life,
In trouble and in joy,
The praises of my God shall still
My heart and tongue employ.
Of His deliverance I will boast,
Till all that are distressed
From my example comfort take,
And charm their griefs to rest.
O magnify the Lord with me,
With me exalt His name;
When in distress to Him I called,
He to my rescue came.
The hosts of God encamp around
The dwellings of the just;
Deliverance He affords to all
Who on His succor trust.
